Every native turtle in Ontario is a Species-at-Risk. Their difficult journeys begin long before they hatch. Their mothers often risk everything, crossing busy roads to reach nesting grounds - some are struck by cars along the way. Even if the eggs are laid, nests can be left exposed, or are disturbed or destroyed before the babies can emerge. Sometimes when these tragic circumstances arise, the eggs that can still be saved find refuge at Toronto Wildlife Centre. This summer, over 80 snapping and
